Eyes
There are all sort of different eye shapes and knowing how to enhance them to make them even more beautiful is really easy once you know how.
Just by using a light and a dark colour you can make them really pop and stand out.
On my client she had wide eyes, to make them look closer together and make them pop I added the darker colour into the inner corners of the eyes.
Health and Safety
Follow all health and safety procedures
Don't double dip into any products, scrape the product out of the shadow palette into the lid and when finished with wipe over the lid with alcohol to clean and remove any germs.
What I used
Illamasqua satin Primer
Kryolan Foundation palette
Kryolan Concealer palette
Illamasqua loose Powder
Mac cool palette
Mascara
Mascara wands
Lash curlers
Brushes
Kryolan Lipstick palette
Tissues
Spatulas
Pads
What I did
1. I prepped the skin by using my Illamasqua matt primer all over the face and eyes to give the look a matt finish
2. Using the foundation palette I got the right colour for my models skin and applied it all over the face.
3. I then concealed the areas which were needed to be concealed like the inner corners of the eyes where it's darker, a little under the eyes, down side of the nostrils, the corners of the mouth, even the chin could be concealed if needed.
4. Using the powder pads I got my illamasqua loose powder and applied that all over the face to set the foundation in place, but I applied a thicker layer underneath the eyes so it leaves a powdered effect underneath. This will help with your fall out from the eyeshadow, as you can just swipe it all off after you've finished applying the eye shadow.
5. Once you are on the eye shadow get a tissue or cotton pad and hold the skin up on the brow bone, this will let you get into the crease and down to the lash line easier.
6. Now on the eyes, I used my MAC cool palette, I started with the lighted colour first this keeps the look cleaner. I applied it mainly on the eye lid and under the lower lash line.
7. With a darker colour I applied and blended into the inner corners of the eyes, the darker colour will make the eyes seem they are closer together.
8. When the shadow is blended and looks good I applied a coat of mascara using my mascara wand and curled the lashes straight after so they will set in that shape I want them to. You can use the curlers after or before using the mascara, I got my model to look straight ahead and applied the mascara on top of the lashes and then underneath. After a few minutes I got her to look up so I could do her bottom lashes.
9. This is the make up look on the eyes finished, if there is any mascara that has caught the skin wait till it has fully dried and then wipe it off with a cotton bud.
Eye brows
Using the same products as the eyes, shaping and adding a little definition to the eye brows frames the face and makes the face look more put together.
My model had thick dark eye brows so I didn't have to do much to her eye brows as they were already looking perfect.
1. Brush the brows into shape so you can see where you may need to apply more product to fill in gaps
2. Using an angled brush lightly go over the brow hairs to add a bit of colour but don't touch the skin with the product
3. Once the brows look more defined brush through them again
Lips
When lining the lips get a colour which is very close or the same shade as the lipstick you are going to use. When you use a pencil make sure it is clean and use an angles brush when applying the lipstick to get the perfect straight edge.
1. Apply a lip liner if you are using one
2. Scrape out some lip stick from the Kryolan lipstick palette and sweep the brush through the colour to get it in all the brush hairs.
3. I asked my model to stretch her lips open so I can get in all the creases and swept the brush backwards and forwards over the lips.
4. Using the edge of the brush to get a neat line all the way round the lips including the corners of them.
5. Once applied onto the bottom and top lip, I blotted the lips on to a tissue.
6. Once the lips have been blotted apply more lipstick and blot once more, to get a softer looking finish you can add the loose powder to the lips too.
Always check the teeth to make sure there is no lipstick on them too
Reflection
I really liked looking at the different eye shapes and seeing what looks are best to create on those shapes. It was a little difficult to find the right one for my model at first but once you have looked a good few times you soon realise which one will best suit.
I also liked doing the lips too as I love wearing lipstick myself, learning that you need to blot and re apply at least twice maybe three times was new to me. It makes the lipstick last much longer and gives a more intense colour too.
I feel like I need more practice on applying lipstick on other people as it is a little tricky getting such a nice neat line with a darker colour but I did the best I could do with it being my first go on a model.
I liked how we got taught to do eyebrows just a slight colour on the hairs but I like mine more intense and I use the product on my skin under the brow hairs using an angled brush too. I think they looked nice and natural but I do prefer them to be more defined.
Overall, it was really interesting learning about eye shapes and how to create looks to enhance them, creating soft brows was interesting and also applying lipstick correctly was very useful too.
